Back To School Week Giveaway and Special Offer from Japanistic

Japanistic is already well known amongst bento fans as a source for well priced bento boxes and accessories, not to mention a lot of other great products from Japan such as stationery, craft items and more. They’re offering a special discount on a very useful bento box set, plus a giveaway prize to JustBento readers. Both feature bento boxes with clear lids and large snap-on plastic side clips. These types of clips are easy to open and close even for little hands, and keep the contents really secure. They don’t require elastic bands to hold them closed - one less item to worry about getting lost.

First up is the special set price for the very cute Addy Drop Back-to-School Package.

I became intrigued with bento lunches when I started getting into reading manga, but my interest was really sparked by the fantastically creative boxes I saw on various web sites! Made me want to try it!

Being Asian, I've always known about bentos, but was never excited about it. It wasn't until I visited Japan two summers ago on a study abroad program that I really came to appreciate bentos. Japanese bentos are always very aesthetically pleasing and healthy, even the store made ones in convenient stores. I've always thought the homemade bentos look great but never tried to make them myself. Now they're not as daunting as before thanks to your site!

For me it was one word: Manga. I was a HUGE anime nerd (still am) and I discovered bento in Sailor Moon, when Sailor Jupiter used to make pretty bentos for her friends/love interests. There was a Japanese junk food store near my highschool so I (ditched) walked over there in my spare time and found, in the homegoods section, brightly colored bento boxes with little characters on them, with matching chopsticks, and little bags to carry them. My mind promptly exploded from the cuteness and I bought one in every color (not kidding). I still use them today, with my favorite pair of chopsticks, my Sailor Jupiter ones. I'm a dork.

When I was in middle school, I did a homestay in Japan. My host mom would make wonderful lunches for us to take on our day trips here and there! I was so taken that I purchased my first bento box from a 100-yen store and tried to pack myself lunches in it. It was never quite the same as my host mom's. Now that my daughter is going to start 1st grade, and will be taking home lunch every day, I'm going to try my best to prepare bento that are both nutritious and pretty/fun. Ganbarimasu!

I heard someone talking about bento boxes on TV and I googled the term. After I found this website, I began to learn all about a new way to eat my lunch. Yay!

I discovered bentos from a photo album at parentcenter.com. I loved how colorful and cute they were and loved the idea of tasty, healthy lunches I could pack at home. The album focused on bentos for children, so there were a lot of charaben and it really appealed to my creative side, though I have yet to try a charaben bento.

When I was 17 I was scouted to model in Japan. I went there for two months and did only 1 job but it was a good one Kao body perfume. It was enough for my agency to bring me back so the day after I graduated high school I returned. On my 2nd job they ordered obento for lunch and I was hooked! I loved all of the little bites of different dishes I wanted to eat it every day.

I was first exposed to bentos watching The Breakfast Club as a kid! Molly Ringwald's character took a sushi bento to eat during lunch break at detention. For years I thought, man what a cute way to eat lunch. So I started digging in to find out about bento-ing. It wasn't until I got into bentos that I started learning about Japanese culture, cuisine, and popculture! I'm such a fangirl..

I love japanese food...and discovered bentos by searching for a new lunch box online.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway and Special Offer from ...

I've always been interested in Japanese food, but I don't remember how I first found out about bento. I do remember, though, that I rediscovered and started researching bento as a way to get my kindergartener (now a first grader) to eat his lunch at school. That approach has been hit and miss, because I am just not all that great at charaben. :)

Originally I encountered them first on the Shinkansen and then at 7-11 when I was 12 and visited Japan for the first time. Then it took me forever to get back to them, though I always wished Germany had something similar. Took my coming to the U.S. and having to pack lunches to have me experiment and then find blogs about it!

I was looking for a better way to package leftovers for my lunch, and to make healthier lunches because my oldest was starting school. The internet led me to you -- thanks!
