Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

CasaBento is one of the biggest online bento box and accessory sellers. They have a diverse selection of bento boxes, in all kinds of styles from cute-kawaii to sophisticated and traditional. They also carry other useful products for bento makers, such as 220V Zojirushi rice cookers - very hard to get a hold of in most of Europe, unless you live near a Japanese store. (Another bonus for European bento fans: they promise 2-3 day shipping here! For other regions of the world it’s 4-8 days, which is still pretty fast.)

CasaBento ships worldwide, and includes prepaid custom fees in their shipping charges (with the exception of the rice cookers), so you don’t have to worry about paying more before you get your hands on your bento goodies.

And this is the giveaway item that CasaBento is offering to JustBento readers - a Tokyo Japan Bento Box Set, with everything you need to get started with your bento-making!

This set includes a colorful plastic two-tier bento box with a clear top lid, under which the matching chopsticks and spoon (both included of course) slot in nicely. There’s also a cute matching color bento belt, and a drawstring carrying bag. The total capacity of the two tiered box is 580ml, which is a great size for adults with small to average appetites or older kids.

The Tokyo Japan Bento Box Set is available in eight colors, and the winner gets to choose a set in the color of his or her choice. The colors kind of remind me of those candy-colored 2nd generation iMacs!

How to enter the CasaBento giveaway

Update: This giveaway is now closed. Thanks everyone for partcipating! The winner will be announced later this week.

This giveaway is open to everyone, worldwide - or at least, anywhere that CasaBento can ship! (If in doubt, please ask them first. I’m not sure they ship to Antarctica, for example.)

To enter, just leave a comment to this post. The question to answer for this giveaway is - If you could choose to go to just one city that you’ve never been to, where would that be, and why? (OK it’s not quite bento related, but I’m running out of ideas ^_^;)

Be sure to include a valid email address where you can be contacted in the appropriate text box! Your comment must be posted by 23:59:59 EDT (U.S. East Coast Time) (or just before midnight) of Sunday, August 22th 2010. One lucky entry will be drawn at random to receive the Tokyo Japan Bento box. Good luck!

This is Giveaway No. 3 of Back To School Week. Stay tuned for more throughout the week!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

At the moment, Berlin is at the top of my list. So many people have been and told me that it's great that some of it must be true.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would like to visit Kyoto. I'm a huge fan of Japanese culture and gardening, but I've never had the money to actually make a trip to Japan.

But there are so many! All

But there are so many!

All right, randomly choosing one... Ummm, Rome. Because there's a ton of art and architecture there that I'd love to take a look at with my own eyes :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I don't have a specific city I want to go to but I know I'm looking into participating in Wwoof (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) in Japan. It is a work trade framing program. I've always been fascinated with the Japanese culture and I'm very interested in learning one of the first occupations ever in existence, which is farming. A friend of mine is actually in Japan at the moment in the wwoof program and has only wonderful things to say about her experience which is giving me that extra push I need to start the process!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Venice. Because when I was ill and in the hospital there was a PBS show on. I believe it was called Great Roads of the World or something like that. Nathan Lane was hosting and the roads were the Canals of Venice. It helped me get through that night and really gave me something to hope for the future. So one day I want to get to Venice and those "roads".

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to San Sebastian, Spain. Walk at the sandy beaches, hike to see the gorgeous view and appreciate the beautiful Spanish architecture. And of course eat tapas the pinxto way and try the famous Arzak! ^_^

Now a good question will be if you could go to one restaurant in the world which and why? ;)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Oia, Greece. I love the Mediterranean and the white-blue combination.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Paris, It has been my dream to visit Paris since I was a kid.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Paris definitely. So I can lurk all day in the Louvre and go all starry-eyed at those wonderful art pieces.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd love to go and visit Tokyo with my wife, we never had a honeymoon but this was the place we settled on! Our first holiday would definitely be here since we're both such big Japanese culture fiends and it feels slightly phony having never been there!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

For me it's anywhere in Turkey. I've always loved the turkish culture, the architecture, the history, the foood! (although not turkish delight for some reason). My dad has recently been travelling there a few times a year for work, and I'm so jealous! Some of the larger cities, like Ankara would probably be a good place to start.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to Kyoto because it has such a rich culture and my Japanese friend says it's a really beautiful city.
Also, After reading Memoirs of a Geisha, I'm really interested in them (geisha) and Kyoto's my best chance of seeing one. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

If I could go to any city, it would probably be Reykjavík. I've always been interested in Icelandic culture and traditions, and I love the cold!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to see Venice, preferably during the carnival - I have read many books and seen it in movies, I'm curious.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to visit Rome. I've heard a lot about the ancient buildings and I would love to see it myself.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Gosh, that's a really tricky one. There are a LOT of places I want to see!

I think I'm going to go with Aix-en-Provence. I've always been fascinated with Provence (even though I've never been there) and I'm a gigantic sucker for old cities with beautiful architecture and cafes to sit in. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I want to pay a visit to Beijing, China!

The city filled with history and majestic Great Wall!
My breath will surely be taken away by the buzzling city and the beautiful people!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to go to Kyoto. I love Japan, especially the culture. c:

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Definitly London.

Big Ben, Sherlock Holmes Museum, Madame Tussauds, Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Hyde Park, Westminster, Tower Bridge....

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I wish to go to Japan too and right now want to specifially visit Ishikawa coz read from a site that sells great bento gear that that's the place they source all the cool looking products. Also I would like to visit Hawaii as there seems to be a lot of cool bento makers there and wish to try spam musubi! :D

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

If I could visit any city in the world which I haven't visited yet I'd want to choose so many because I can learn from their culture, taste their food, watch how they live and interact, every country is different and within the country every city is different too...

But, since I can choose only one, I'd have to choose an area that is close to my heart, I say area because it's not a city: The Drakensberg in South Africa. It's a mountain range that separates the tropical East coast province of Kwa-Zulu Natal from the Kingdom of Lesotho, it is rich with wildlife and rock paintings by the San bushman who used to live and hunt in the area. I was born in Kwa-Zulu Natal but have never been to the Drakensberg, I'd love to learn all about it's rich history and do a week long camping/hiking trip through the area learning all about the wildlife and the San.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to visit Morondava in Madagascar, and see Baobab alley.

PICK ME!!!! :)

I would go to any city in Japan! I feel like every city in Japan has something unique about it and oh how I would love to go and just eat all the different foods around Japan, local specialities and all! And of course, to practice my Japanese that I've been learning for 3 years already in uni before forgetting after graduating from the lack of usage. =_=

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I hope this doesn't sound too corny, and I'm not sure if it counts as a "city" but I woul love to go to India and visit what people know as Bollywood.

Don't know if i'll ever get that chance, though ^^'

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go to Nagasaki!
I have been to other parts of Japan, but somehow this was a place I left out on my past travels, which I regret. For some reason everyone (including I) visits Hiroshima, but Nagasaki and the memorials, museum there and the nowadays city are something I definitely want to see.
And I would certainly travel there with this hopefully new bento box. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

One city is pretty difficult to choose... First one that comes to mind is Rome. I would love to go there in summer. I've been around a lot of Asia already so I would love to go see Europe.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would definately go to Moscow. I've never been to Russia and I would love to see and experience it.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would like to go to Italy, more specifically Rome. To see the history book pictures I used to look at as a child come alive and experience their culture especially their food.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd want to go to Transylvania in Romania! It has a great history with a traditional vibe. Plus it'd be interesting to see Dracula's castle haha... ^^;

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to visit Jordan. The place has always fascinated me and the more I read about it the more I love it!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I want to go to Swansea, Wales. In general, I've always wanted to visit Wales because of "The Dark is Rising" book series I read when I was a kid. Then I started reading a lot of historical fiction set in Wales, and I'd like to get a better picture of what everything looks or looked like.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would go to Venice... just always wanted to see the canals in person and not just in the movies. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

My first choice would be Tokyo. It's a great starting point for a tour of Japan. I'd love to see the country! It's such a great blend of old and new, such a rich culture and history! I'd go to Kyoto for a stay at the onsen, have a sake tasting on Brewer's Street, go to Joetsu for the Kenshin festival, maybe catch a sumo match, definitely do some time in the shopping district, catch a few shows... Seeing a performance by GACKT would be a /huge/ bonus!! :-D

Why, yes, I have been planning a trip. How could you tell? The only question is when...

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I want to go to Machu Picchu! I don't know if it counts, since it's an abandoned ancient city and UNESCO site, but I've always been fascinated with it. However, I'm fairly positive I'll never go. It's a stunningly gorgeous and enigmatic place, but the ruins are threatened by the sheer number of tourists who go every year (plus the industries that grow up around tourism :P ). It's a catch-22 I guess. I want to go so badly, but, really, morally, how could I potentially contribute to the destruction of such a beautiful place with so much history? :( I'm contenting myself with photographs and South American food. If you've never tried Peruvian food, you really should!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go visit Japan simply because I love their food and culture. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would visit Tokyo, Japan. Ever since I was a kid I have wanted to visit Japan. I want to try the food, see the culture and the people, and I've just really felt a deep longing to visit. I'd like to visit all over Japan, but if I have to choose one city, I'd go there.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Since I've seen a little bit of Tokyo, I'd love to see Kyoto on my next trip to Japan (in Asia). In Europe I'd like to see Dublin. Fun question; they don't ALL have to be bento-related. :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Seriously, the one place i need to go to is new york. i need to get out of asia and go to other continents already. although honestly speaking there's a lot of other places i want to visit-- greece, tokyo, africa and everywhere else.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Paris, France. Just because I'd love to experience the romantic city of the world and be a super tourist and see the sights!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to visit Sapporo in Hokkaido. I have never been to Hokkaido and hear that it is absolutely beautiful.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

Kawaii! The cutlery is especially cool.

I would really, really love to visit Machu Picchu in Peru - or any of South America, really. I love few things more than travel, but when you live in Europe it's always tempting to opt for the cheaper East European holiday. Machu Picchu in particular because the pictures are so amazing, and because it's never felt like a real place to me - I want to see it for myself before they decide to close it off to tourists.

That puts me in the mood to make a Machu Picchu themed bento...

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

If I could go anywhere in the world... I would go to Bora Bora, Fiji.

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I would love to go to Athens, Greece. I love Greek Mythology, and would like to see the places that are talked about in all the stories. Actually, truth be told, I would like to do a Mediterranean cruise... :)

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

A city I've never been to? I think it's a tie between Tokyo and Rome - I've never been to Japan or Italy and I'd really like to visit both (both countries with cuisines I absolutely love! I guess I let my taste buds decide my travelling destinations (-;).

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

it'll be a tough choice, between (anywhere in) japan & alaska. i love japanese food and culture, but would also love to visit Alaska, take a cruise and see the wildlife and experience some native Alaskan culture.
thanks for your great blog, Maki. hope u're completely better soon!

Re: Back To School Week Giveaway from CasaBento

I'd like to go to NY. It's a dream for me. I love the NY huge buildings!
