So I want to start up a Ravelry group for us knitters doing the bento challenge. If you are interested please reply with your ravelry user name. Once I have at least 3 I will make the group and post about it on here!

I can't believe there's such a big Just Bento/Ravelry crossover, it seems so weird to me! Has anybody made an amigurumi onigiri yet?!
I'm Awfulknitter on Ravelry as well as here.
I am KiwiDragons on Ravelry, but I'm more of a watcher than a "do-er." Learning to knit/crochet is on my to do list, but I do enjoy seeing all the projects others make.

Just curious, has anyone started knitting bento bags? Seems like the sort of thing a knitting/bento crossover would produce. ;)

I've just started knitting a week ago, and can barely get my stitches to turn out even, but I'd love to make something cute to hold my lunches.
A few years ago, Knitty.com featured a pattern called "Brown Bag" - its a felted lunch bag, that "comfortably fits a sandwich, cupcake, juice box, and small bottle of aspirin". That might be a fun project to start with - its felted, so it won't matter if the stitches aren't all even, and you don't have to worry too much about exact sizing either. Knit it in pure wool (not superwash) and then toss it in the clothes washer to felt it! :)

It looks like a beautiful project! Sadly I don't understand half the instructions, so I might put it off until I pick up some more knitting lingo, but thanks so much for pointing it out!
I'm dorayaki there, I don't have much time to knit but I like to look. I'd love to knit a bento, I've seen origami bentos before and my kids would love it.
