That's what my first bento looks like. It's smaller than I expected so I'm not sure I can fit the stuff in that I wanted to cook. Any advice on organizing or things that specifically fit in here? I'm not quite sure what to do. It is smaller than I'd expected but it's my first bento purchase so I'm not sure whether I'm underestimating how much I could put into it.

How big is it? It's hard to tell from a picture about how many mL it is.
Hi Kawaii Bfly, you can measure the inner capacity of the box by filling it with water, then emptying out the water into a measuring up (preferably with ml markings on it, but a regular one that says 1 cup, etc. would do too). Then tell us how much water it holds so we know how big the box is.

Is it a one tier box?
Let's see. It's two tier.
And it holds 300 ml in the upper deck and 210 ml in the lower one.
That's about right. Most of mine vary from 500ml to 600ml. I take the 500ml one on short days at work and the 600ml for normal days.
Sometimes I even add a little 400ml one with a few blueberries and nuts to keep me going if I work late.
Many of the 'complete bentos' shown on the main site would fit your bento box, since I usually aim for bentos that come in around 500 calories. You can also get lots of inspiration from the flickr pool photos of everyone's bentos!
If you are not shure how much will fit in try to make more rather then less. You can always leave something behind but a gap is not as easy to fill, especially if you are short in time.
It's hard for me to tell from the picture (and I don't remember how many ml mine holds), but if it's 2-tier, yours is probably the same size as mine. If you pack this well, as Maki has suggested, you should have plenty of food. When I received my first bento, I thought, "Wow, that's small!" but packed right, it turned out to be more food than I could eat. Maybe try packing it for an at-home meal so you don't have any surprises later. If it turns out that this bento just isn't big enough for you, you can always pack another small container with a side dish.
Cute strawberries!
i had to change from 600 ml bentos to 500 ml because a well packed 600 ml bento is much more food than i can actually eat!! And i also had to reduce the amount of rice, it was way too much rice for me.
bento boxes are small because that way the food will be well packed and it will not move! ;)

It's not big enough for sandwiches, pasta salad depends on your appatite, but it's a good size for a rice, couscous or potatoe sadad based bento.
