Hi all,

My name is Lucy and I just signed up this morning. I've been reading this site and others for a long time.

Lately I've been super lazy at work and buying my lunch. Not good for my waistline or my wallet!

I'm definitely hoping that making this change will help me feel more positive. I like being organised but find it difficult sometimes. I love the environment but buying my lunch is not so sustainable. I love eating healthy but healthy eating options can be hard to find around my office (and especially hard if I'm in the field!).

Hope you're all having a great weekend :)

Welcome Lucy!
Best of luck with your bento ambitions - I'm rather envious of the markets for fresh seasonal produce in Australia even if your ready made lunch options are scarce.

We're supposed to be in the height of summer here in London but it's more like a Perth winter. Thank goodness for steaming rice and hot miso soup.

Hi Lucy. If your winter over there is anything like the one we're having here Loretta will be right! It's been the mildest winter I can remember.
Interesting elections you've been having too. Hope they get it sorted out soon.
One of the things I really like about bentos is having virtually no rubbish in the way of wrappings etc. It's great for the environment as well as the pocket.

Re: Hi from Perth, Western Australia

Hi Loretta and Bronwyn, thanks for your welcome :)

I guess it has been a mild winter, but I'm so ready for spring! It's also one of our driest winters on record, so not great news for our farmers or gardeners.
As for the politicians, I think they're confused as we are - it's a hung parliament. They're still counting postal votes, but even then no party will have the majority.

In bento news - it went well at work...until I forgot to bring my lunch bag home! But I have another one so I can still look forward to taking my lunch tomorrow. Yep, sometimes I think I'm 6 years old!

Re: Hi from Perth, Western Australia

A warm welcome to you, Luce! I'm in NYC, some (cough) distance away, eh? and the weather is foul and bizarre, what with the chemtrails and all.

So glad you landed here, as Maki is the rock for recipes and tips of all kinds. I have friends in Alice Springs (opal miners) - are ya anywheres near there (admittedly more central) ?

Bento is a magnificent little concept, isn't it? endlessly adaptable and so very economic!

Re: Hi from Perth, Western Australia

Thanks ladies!
Hi Leelee - I wrote you a novel on your other thread haha sorry!
Hi Heidi - Two of my best mates are in NYC at the moment, it sounds such a great place! As for chemtrails? There's my googling work breaks for the day sorted!
I've never been to Alice Springs, are your friends in Coober Peedy by any chance? I only ask 'coz that's the only opal mine I know of. My knowledge is v limited though!!! You're right, they're in the middle of this huge country and I'm on the western edge - I live in Perth.

Happy bentoing :)

Re: Hi from Perth, Western Australia

Got it in one, yup they're in Coober Pedy! They and their boys live in the cave areas for most of the year.

I've never been to Australia and I really should think about a trip, so many good folks there...

well, again Welcome and hope you enjoy all the good stuff here and put in some of your own (I see you did that already) -- best wishes!
