The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

JUST-BENTO_bookcover.jpg

The giveaway is now closed. The winners will be contacted and announced later this week. Thank you everyone for entering!

To commemorate the new edition of The Just Bento Cookbook, I’m going to give away 2 signed copies! The new edition has the exact same content as the previous edition, but just has a slightly different form factor (a wee bit smaller (but not much), and no dust jacket (but the cover is printed in full color)). I am very glad it has been reprinted again; as I mentioned before, the original publisher closed its doors in March, but the publishing rights were picked up by another division of the same parent company, Kodansha USA. So anyway, here’s your chance to get your hands on one! It’s too late to get the book to the winners before the holidays, but it should arrive in the New Year when you’re all ready to tackle those healthy/frugal eating resolutions.

All you have to do is leave a comment to this post (not an email reply if you are reading this by email: click on the title to come to site, and post your comment entry here!) Be sure to put your email address in the appropriate box (it will be hidden from prying spammers, not to worry) so that I can contact you if you win. In the body of your comment, state the following:

  • where you are located in the world (everyone is eligible, as long as you live somewhere where mail can reach you)
  • your gender, profession and general age bracket (you can be vague about the age ^_^ I’m just a curious bunny about who my readers are)
  • who you make bentos for primarily - or plan to make bentos for if you havent’ started
  • (optional) What you want to see on JustBento. A specific recipe? A how-to? I’m all ears!

Only one entry/comment per person please! The deadline for posting your comment is 23:59:59 of Monday, December 19th CET (Central European Time). Two winners will be chosen at random, and I’ll contact them next week and announce them as soon as they’ve responded.

So…I look forward to seeing your comments! Good luck!

My name is Julie, and I live in Okinawa, Japan. I am female, a missionary, and 31 years old. I make bentos a few times a week for my 3 year old son to take to preschool, but next school year it will be every day. I also occasionally make them for family picnics. Your blogs have helped me SO much as I experiment with Japanese cooking! ありがとう御座います!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi Maki,
thank you for doing this give-away!
I'm a 26 years old female living in Berlin, Germany, where I study Assyriology. Due to the long days and the not-so-stellar cafeteria food, I started packing bentos for myself. Recently, because my boyfriend started a new job and went back to school, I've started making his lunch as well. The first day, when he sat down to eat with his bento, 3 people came up to him exclaiming "aw, you've got a bento!", so I think I'm doing good so far. :-)
Besides your posts concerning food, I really love the glimpses you provide of Japanese products, artisans and traditions. I wouldn't mind more of those. :-)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi there,
I'm Stacy - 38, living in Western Massachusetts in the US. For my Non monetary earning profession, I'm a Full time mama to a 3 year old named Kai and for my other income earning profession, I am a part time American Sign Language Interpreter.
I make bentos for the two of us. I'm fairly new at it... I love seeing photos of other people's bento ideas. And I'd love to see more vegetarian bento ideas here with some specific guidance for fitting everything into bentos!
Thanks!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello Maki!

I love your blog, which I read from Shanghai, China.

I am a female, English language teacher, and I'm 28 years old.
I make bentos for myself, but when I'm back home (Canada), I make them for my brother, sister, mom and dad.

I don't have a specific recipe in mind, but if you have some fish dish for bentos, that would be great to see on JustBento.

Thank you for hosting this contest.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

My Name is Sally. I live in Hurley, MS. I am 16 years old, and a junior in high school. I simply adore Japan and I often try to make bentos, but they are never really cute =( I make bentos for myself and for my friends, and someday I will make bentos for my cute little children~~ I just really REALLY want to learn how to make super cute bentos easily and if I get this cookbook, I will keep it forever and use it for the remainder of my bento-making life~

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I live in Ohio, USA.

I am a female, a product photographer and in my late 20's.

I make bentos every morning for my husband to take to work. I also make a doggie friendly bento for my 3 dogs when we go for long hikes/picnics ^__^

I love your vegetarian/vegan bento ideas! So, I would not mind seeing more of it!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

*I live in the USA in the state of Missouri
*I am a female, I'm 22 and I currently do not have a job. I only recently just got a car so I've been out job hunting whenever I can. After I get a job though I will be going to school for Medical Transcriptions and then eventually Nursing or a Physicians Assistant.
*I make Bentos primarily for my mother. I make them for myself to but it all mainly started for both of us as a way to help with being on Weight Watchers and find a better neat way to control portion sizing of our meals.
* I think I would like to see how to turn more regular American meals into cute Bentos. It's easy to figure out more authentic Japanese Bentos and Bentos that involve a Sandwich but I'm still so new that it's hard to figure out what to do with leftovers to make it still look good in out Bento boxes.

I think this is really neat for you to be doing. Congrats to whoever wins <3! I know I've seen the book at out local Barnes and Noble and I've wanted it for a long time. The pictures along with the recipes. I think that has made it the only Bento Book I've wanted so far!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I am 19 years old I live in Lakeland Fl. I am a student and I am a girl. I just started making bentos I make then for myself and my mother. I have been trying to get a copy for quite a while.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I'm Jessi, mid-20s, and I'm currently in Canada but from the midwest US. I previously made bentos for the girls (you can see some of them here: http://www.quirkycookery.com/search/label/bento) and am now switching over to making them for myself, boyfriend, and hopefully to continue sharing some with my readers. And as for what I'd like to see? I'm a sucker for decorative, silly, themed bentos, but I'd love some tutorials.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I'm from California, 34 years of age and working in an office.
I'm mainly making bento for my lunch. My husband doesn't think bring in lunch is cool. HE IS OF COURSE WRONG!!!
Would love any recipes from your site, especially the Japanese ones!!
So glad to know that you are feeling better. May the new year bring you health and happiness!!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

-Live in Gainesville, FL
-Female, unemployed accountant, almost 60 yrs old
-My spouse takes his lunch to work every day and we are exploring different types of meals that are easy to prepare (or make ahead) and easy to transport. We curretnly use lots of glass containers with plastic lids, at the moment for his lunches, and he carries them in a small soft-side cooler.
-Would love to hear more about different types of non-plastic bento boxes. It's very hard to get a good idea of the size of portions for some of the boxes. My spouse has a man-sized appetite!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Dear Maki:
I live in Mexico and I knew from bentos in the school I work. I am a teacher in the Liceo Mexicano Japonés (Mexican and Japanese Licee) witch is the only one school in the world where there are two sections, one for each Country. The Japanese Section is runed by the Japanese Ministery of Education. I have been working from 1983 in Mexican Section. I visited Japan in 2004 as a teacher of the Liceo, and I love the beauty of that Country.
In Just Bento I have learned many recipies and secrets of how bentos must be composed. My wife prepares bentos almost every day for my son and for me, and many times I help her. You are very generous in sharing your knowledge to the world.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Where: Hiyoshi, (Yokohamashi) Japan
Background: American, Filipino / Polish descent
Age: 19
Occupation: Student / Rock and roll musician!

This is kinda long, sorry in advance!

I'm currently studying as a 留学生 at 慶應義塾大学, but only for a year... I'm really a UCLA art student. I make bentos for myself, and sometimes for other friends... and I really want to make them for my family when I go back to the states. I'm very lucky to get out here, but Japan is super expensive! Making Japanese food has become a beloved necessity. I can read Japanese well enough to atleast follow recipes, but sometimes I feel like I'm missing some kind of nuance... or sorely misguided by labels like 簡単でちょー美味しい!! on cookpad or wherever else on the net. Which is what thankfully brought me here! My mom grew up in Okinawa and I had been there for some time too... I always loved goya chanpuru and Okinawa ryouri... the recipes here spread that love to almost anything related to Washoku and half the fun of being in Japan is so fun just to cook or eat a meal with all the great produce / seafood here. I suppose for me its funny to realize that despite being a young art student, interested in rock and roll, video making, being outspoken and loud, my tastes are changing and I love the quiet process of preparing dashi and takikomigohan as much playing in bands! But, I also bike from Hiyoshi (on the 東急東横線) to Tamachi (三田キャンパス)in Tokyo everyday, so that explains why I'm always so excited about my bento!! So, for teaching my some interesting and helping me vanquish my insane hunger, 助かりました!炊く沢山教えてくれてありがとうね!

maybe I've missed it, or it just doesn't exist outside of Japan, but I'd love to see a nice "for bento" surumeika recipe. also, if you have just any seasonal bento recommendations for Japan this time of year that would be fantastic as well :)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I am a 21 year old currently unemployed recent graduate female living in South Carolina, USA, though I'm about to move to Maryland. I make bento's for myself though with the move I may begin making them for my boyfriend.
I'd love to see some more about bentos in Japan, their origins, some more traditional recipes. I know a lot of that is already here but I'd love to see more I loved Japan when I was there and I can't wait to get back there.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello, and thank you for this opportunity :D!

My name is Shelby, I reside in Washington "Great Northwest" State. I am 24 years old, and a student during the wee hours of my morning, and a waitress at night. I originally started making bento lunches for my grandmother, a Japan native, when she fell ill with Alzheimers. While her health was strong it was a wonderful taste and presentation of home on my weekend visits. I then started making them for myself, and now curious co-workers who find it pretty amusing...and even a bit educational.

I would love to see more vegetarian options, bento ideas inspired from other countries, a dash of "personal" articles (such as the katsu sando), and perhaps side dishes.

Have a lovely holiday!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi Maki, glad that you're feeling better!

I live in Paris and am female and 32 years old, and make bentos for myself. I always enjoy reading about how to make Japanese style recipes.

I love your blog and would love to have your book! :)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I'm a 22 year old girl. i'm student from Belgium, Antwerp . I started in september to make my first attempts in making healthy bentos for myself (try to get rid of the unhealthy student food diet ^^) . In february I start with my internship, because of the long days i'm need to make then I want to take healty and nice lunches with me. I think a bento box can give that. It was difficult to start first. But after I found this site it was easyer to make it.

I still need to learn alot. But with small steps i will get there.

What I like to see more, maybe some more fruit things. Not the normel just sliced food but recipes. FOr the rest is this site for me already a great source of ideas.

Sorry if there are alot of spelling mistakes. XD (not my main language)

But thank you for the nice inspiration you have given me. I hope you would go on for many year. Take good care of your health and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Wow, a LOT of people want your book, haha!
Right now, I'm in Argentina, though if I had the luck to win, I'd like to have the book sent to my home in Florida, USA, just to be safe :D
I'm a 17 year old female exchange student!!
In the past I've only made bentos for myself, because I felt I didn't have time to make them for everyone else while still keeping them cute. However, when I return home, I'll only have two high school classes in the morning, and then a part time job. With the extra time, I definitely want to start making bentos for my two little sisters and my little cousins who live with me too. Maybe even my dad, though he claims to be a strict sandwich guy. But there are sandwich bentos too, right? Anyways, bentos are much cheaper and healthier than buying a premade lunch every day, and my sisters will NOT eat cafeteria food, haha!
This may sound completely lame, but I think it'd be kinda cool to see themed bentos. Like, you could do a pokemon inspired one. The rice part can be half plain, and the other half can have curry or flakes on it, so it looks reddish. Then separate the colors with nori, so it looks like a pokeball :D Haha I don't even know if that would be decent, but it's an idea!
Thanks for giving away a couple of your books!!!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I´m a 29 year old girl from germany. I make bentos for my boyfriend and me! I would love to win that book :)

Sveiki ( Hello)!

I`am a 24 years old female marketing manager from Vilnius, Lithuania ( a small country near the Baltic sea :) )
Currently I`m making bentos for myself, but planning on making them for the rest of the family in the near future (when they finely live up to the idea, that they need to take "package of food" from home before heading off for the day.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Well, thanks alot for the giveaway ;)

I'm from germany, I am 31 years old and I'm a software developer. I would like to make bentos for me and maybe my wife, but didn't have the time to think about it :/

Thanks for the blog and keep up the good work :)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi! I'm Betsy, and I'm a 24yo student in Australia. I've been bringing my lunches to uni for years, but I've only very recently started reading about the whole bento thing. A friend lent me a copy of your book and pointed me at your blog, and I've had a lot of fun keeping myself supplied with more of a variety of lunches ever since :) I'm a relatively experienced cook (though much less so in Japanese food), so what I find most useful in your blog are inspiration and new techniques, rather than recipes which I tend to adapt anyway. I would however like to learn my way around new sauces and flavourings to help keep my lunch interesting. Thanks for such a great site!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I'm Chelsea and commenting from Durham, NC. I'm a female, a student at Duke University, a cashier at the Duke Stores (they sell overpriced clothing, jewelry, etc), and I am 18 years old. I plan to make bentos for myself mainly for when I go on trips, or for friends if we're hanging out together for an entire day. ^_^

Hi, I'm Juli and I live in Tacoma, Washington.
I'm a teenage girl and currently go to school & work at a kitchen shop.
I mostly make bentos for my school lunches ( my friends get a bit jealous sometimes ;)
During the summer I'll make picnic lunches for a special day.
I would really love it if you made a french-style bento
Thank You

Hi, I'm Brittney from Arizona. I am a 22 years old who graduated in May from college and is waiting to see if I got accepted into Med school. I make bentos for myself when I go to work, for my sister for her lunches at school, and for my mom so she has something to eat at work. I have loved just about everything you have posted so far and I don't have any specific requests^_^

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi! I'm Jamie, a 27 year old Interior Designer/University Professor from Montana, USA. I've been pseudo-stalking your site for a while now and am 99% sure I'll be getting my first bento box and supplies for Christmas this year! I first became interested in Japanese cuisine from my father who lived in Japan (in areas around Tokyo) for a few years when he was younger and recently I've been learning how to make many of his favorite dishes! I've successfully tried my hand at gyoza, yakitori, yakisoba and katsudon but would love to learn to make more bento friendly meals for myself. I'd primarily be making bento meals from your cookbook just for little me, but I know the skills can be translated to school meals for the children I'll have in the future. As always thanks for the inspiration!

Jamie

ps. I think it'd be neat if you showed a lot of different onigiri recipes from around Japan as well as different gyoza recipes and cooking methods.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Im from England.
Female, 20 (21 soon eek!) and i'm a final year University student.
I usually make them for myself, its much cheaper than buying lunch.
I like recipes and pictures, if it looks cute and tasty i'l want to make it

Good luck to all! C:

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello Maki!

I love your wonderful site, it has helped me so much to develop my Japanese cooking skills. (Growing up in a western culture you really have to adjust your palate with Japanese food, which is why I love it so much I think - but it can make cooking difficult because you don't have that natural intutition about how the flavours work.)

I am located in Brisbane, Australia, and currently I am working as a lawyer in a mid tier firm. I am 24. I would love to make bentos but at the moment my lunches are limited mainly to leftovers with a piece of fruit or a toasted sandwich! So I mainly use your recipes for substantial meals rather than smaller parts of an everyday lunch. The reason, however, I would like to start making bentos is because I have applied for the 2012 JET Programme, and being in Japan, around Japanese ingredients that are currently difficult to source locally will make it easier to bento, maybe even easier than reheating the spaghetti from the night before!

I would love to try making my own soba noodles. I am not sure whether you have done a "how to" for this before?

Thanks again Maki and I really hope you are feeling better soon.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi there! I'm just a girl from Boston and I'm 17. I don't have a profession as of yet but I'm working on it! Hopefully, I'll be a detective some day. I just got my first bento box, it's a cute but small hakoya with little pink and orange bunnies. I'm absolutely in love with it~ I make bento's for myself (or attempt to, I should say) and occasionally for my best friend. I've always had to make my own lunches, my mom never would, and still won't. I was running out of ideas until I decided to experiment with some of the bento recipes on here! So thank you for that~ I would love to see you tell us about your personal favorite winter bento recipes (if you have already I'm sorry for asking >//<) please continue to share your wonderful recipes with us!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi,
I'm a 36 year old female Research Administrator from Bozeman, Montana. always was fascinated by bentos, but was too afraid to try until I came across this site. I make bentos for myself primarily for health with portion control.
I would like to see more vegetarian options, if possible.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello!! I'm Megan Becenti, I'm a sophomore in High School living in New Mexico (USA). I come from a very small town and I find it hard to find Japanese ingredients, but that doesn't stop me. I love cooking especially Asian meals. Bentos are so much fun to make, I go crazy over mine, having a different theme one every so often. I don't make bentos a lot for I am still busy with my studies, sports and several hobbies. I enjoy cooking it's one of those hobbies that will be very helpful when I am on my own. ^_^

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello!

I'm a 20something university student from Pennsylvania, USA. I normally make bentos for myself since it's cheap, healthy, and easy. I'm always looking for new foods to try in my bentos to keep things interesting.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi! I'm a 33 year old female dietitian who works with public health in the US. I've just begun to dapple in Bento-making for myself. Once I get better, I hope to make them for my daughter when she goes to school. Since I'm so new to Bentos, I love to see anything that you put on the website ;)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi maki!

I am a 25 yr old girl from Adelaide, Australia!! :)
I am a graphic designer by day, marital artist and belly dance by night, and all-round japanese fantatic!!! :D
I make bento for myself - nothing more exciting that spending an evening crafting away, building my beautiful boxes, and then surprising myself int he morning with what I have made in my previous nights sleepy state - and then showing them off to my colleuges at work!!
My favourite bento box is a little blue split level pig!! :D Kawaii!!! :D

My favourite recipes off of the site are the simple sides, tamagoyaki, blanched spinach and sesame, carrot and sesame salad etc.
I would love to see some recipies for some cold noodles with delicious sauces for my bento lunches? Perhaps with udon?!! (or perhaps I just havent gone deep enough into the archives?! (there is so much!!))

Thanks for everything so far Maki! :)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello! I'm a 26 year old woman from Boston, MA, and I work as an educator at the Museum of Science. Since I work in outreach, I spend a lot of days on the road driving to schools to do science programs and assemblies for students all over New England. This also means I don't have access to hot food or microwaves. After one to many pb&js and cold cut sandwiches I had to look for another alternative to lunch, and that's when I became really excited about bento lunches. This site has been a tremendous resource, and it's so great I can't think of what else I would add!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

What a great idea - just reading through the comments has been fun!

I'm a 30 year old American girl lucky enough to be living in Japan with my (American) husband and 11 month old daughter. Though we're currently in Okinawa, we've been assigned to Kumamoto for a further three years beginning next summer. I'll probably start making bentos for my husband at work and when my daughter starts daycare, I'm sure I'll be dusting off every ounce of creativity I have to craft a "kawaii" bento for her school days.

I'm still somewhat new to the site and have been making a point to catch up on the archived posts. You cover such a range of things that I can't think of what more I'd like to see, although any creative kid bentos (like your recent post on your sister's charaben) get two thumbs up in my book.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello!

I'm a senior high school student in Michigan, USA. I usually make bento for myself, but when I'm particularly inspired, I make some for my friends. Sadly, I haven't made a bento in a while because my bento box is a monster red and black box with four or five partitions. So much food can fit in it! I usually share because of this and would love some really creative fillers.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I am an almost-retired speech therapist. I live in central Washington state. I have a collection of bento boxes, mostly acquired for "cuteness." I make bento boxes for myself to take to work. I love the Thermos Mrs. Bento for hot and cold foods. When I eat at one of our local Japanese restaurants for lunch, I rarely pass up the bento box to get a sampling of food. I would love to win your book to get more ideas of making beautiful, nutritious bento boxes.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hello! I'm Tuti from Indonesia.
I love reading your blog entries and tried some of the recipes I found here. I would love o have one copy of the book, so it's much more practical and interesting to have one Bento cookbook^^

I'm a girl, age 17, and I went to Senior High School.
I often make bentos on schooldays, for my lunch at school. It's always interesting to eat home made bento at school. I don't have much time in the morning so usually my bento doesn't decorated with many fancy things. But it's alright! As long it's still delicious!!!
About Justbento, I think your site is great! I'm looking forward to see you be fully recovered again and be happier. Ganbare Maki chan! ;)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I live in New Zealand currently, I'm female, 32 years old and profession is software developer.
My and my husband lived in Tokyo for three years. We really enjoy Japanese food. I make bentos for both of us daily, would like to see more easy to prepare food items. Hope you get well soon.

Congratulations on the reprint!

I am a 50 year old mom, living in the hills of Tennessee, USA. I work in the manufacturing world, filtration products to help keep our world a little bit cleaner. ;-)

I'm an avid lover of Japanese food, & have always been drawn to the beauty of the bento lunchboxes, and hope to learn to do them myself (and have ordered some beautiful boxes for Christmas gifts tonight!).
I have enjoyed reading the introductions from other Bento lovers from around the world.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi, Maki! I'm Annah, 26/F/CA (haha old school a/s/l).

I make bentos for myself mainly, to help me think more about my food and basically eat better, and bento also encourages me to be creative and mindful with leftovers. Plus, I live for kitchen tips and accessories. I have also found that a bento picnic makes a really cute date idea -- my boyfriend loves it.

Your blog is my favorite bento site, and I'm so happy for your book!

As for what I would like to see more of, perhaps an all-inclusive list of fruits and veggies that keep well in bentos, and what (if anything) should be done to best prepare each for the box to maximize their ability to "keep." There is plenty of great information like that here; it would be great to see a catch-all reference for f&v. It's important to remind bentofolks that they aren't just boxes of rice and salt!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

My name's Kristen (f), I'm near-on 30 years old, and I live in Hammond, Indiana. I work onboard Amtr@k trains selling food in the cafe car. Not trying to knock said food, but I prefer to bring my own because I eat the Paleo/Primal way. Anyhoo, I don't even remember how I discovered bento boxes but I'm glad I did! It makes it far easier -- and more fun and less expensive -- to eat at work. I also made one for my husband so far and everyone at his work was curious about it.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi! I live in Boston, MA. I'm a woman, and an engineer. I make bento-style lunches for myself and my husband to take to work every day. I'm 29.

I'm vegetarian, so I love it when you feature veggie bentos, especially new creative ways of getting vegetarian protein.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi Maki-chan,

I would love to have your book!!! I'm from Manila, Philippines! :) I'll be a first time mother next year (by March) to a baby boy! My husband and I just love food and cooking too! I'll be 29 this July... and I would like to share this book to my loving husband who doesn't get tired of preparing bentos for me (since he cooks better than I do). I'll be keeping all my fingers crossed for this book. :)

All the best to you and to everyone around the globe!

Happy Holidays!!! :)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi, Jane from Singapore. Having a holiday with family in Japan earlier this month. Was facinated by the culture and their life-style. This is where I come to know of bento (heard of it before but never cross my mind it's happening outside Japan too). Seen students eating bentos at train station, workers having theirs in trains, throughout Japan, everywhere. Very curious of what they are eating and so, we bought some, not one but a few, from a convenience store, went back to our hotel and we had a feast. Didn't expect it taste so delicious and it's so neat. This started me thinking even after reaching home - I can bring bento too, for health reason, for cost-saving and for fun. It helps in the organising skills too.
Few days ago, when I key in BENTO, your site appear and I have not stop reading it or to search for others. Well I need to start somewhere, so... I just bought my first packet of short grain rice this morning. Your recipes seem easy to follow, will try out soonest after I finish planning my meals for this week. Cheers!!! Thanks.
