The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

JUST-BENTO_bookcover.jpg

The giveaway is now closed. The winners will be contacted and announced later this week. Thank you everyone for entering!

To commemorate the new edition of The Just Bento Cookbook, I’m going to give away 2 signed copies! The new edition has the exact same content as the previous edition, but just has a slightly different form factor (a wee bit smaller (but not much), and no dust jacket (but the cover is printed in full color)). I am very glad it has been reprinted again; as I mentioned before, the original publisher closed its doors in March, but the publishing rights were picked up by another division of the same parent company, Kodansha USA. So anyway, here’s your chance to get your hands on one! It’s too late to get the book to the winners before the holidays, but it should arrive in the New Year when you’re all ready to tackle those healthy/frugal eating resolutions.

All you have to do is leave a comment to this post (not an email reply if you are reading this by email: click on the title to come to site, and post your comment entry here!) Be sure to put your email address in the appropriate box (it will be hidden from prying spammers, not to worry) so that I can contact you if you win. In the body of your comment, state the following:

  • where you are located in the world (everyone is eligible, as long as you live somewhere where mail can reach you)
  • your gender, profession and general age bracket (you can be vague about the age ^_^ I’m just a curious bunny about who my readers are)
  • who you make bentos for primarily - or plan to make bentos for if you havent’ started
  • (optional) What you want to see on JustBento. A specific recipe? A how-to? I’m all ears!

Only one entry/comment per person please! The deadline for posting your comment is 23:59:59 of Monday, December 19th CET (Central European Time). Two winners will be chosen at random, and I’ll contact them next week and announce them as soon as they’ve responded.

So…I look forward to seeing your comments! Good luck!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I've wanted this book since my friend introduced me to this site!
I'm from Greenville, SC, USA

I'm female, 25, and retail worker/would be comic book artist.

I make bentos mostly for myself, although sometimes I make them for my roommate too.

I would love to see more vegetarian recipes, but your current selection is already great.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I'm so happy you're hosting another giveaway! I hope I win something this time, I'm always participating:)

I'm 26-year-old translator/interpreter, I live in Poland and I'm a girl. I make bentos for myself whenever I work at any office, in case of trips or all-day wandering about the city (I'm rather savy and also I eat a lot, so it's not very economical for me to go out without taking any food).

I like rice prepared the Japanese way, but if you have any fun ways to season or cook it, I'd like to hear about them! I usually use colored rice, since it looks better and is easier to eat cold.

Hi!
I live in Sweden, I'm a 24 year old student, who makes lunch boxes to eat at uni, since dining out is just too expensive! I'm studying to become a PE teacher hense my interest in health, sports and food ^^ I usually make lunch for myself and sometimes my friends.

I love to see some more recipes with mushrooms, since I love to eat them in all forms and shapes!

Thank you for the wonderful job you do on this site and with your book.

Hello,

I'm a 26 year old dispatcher for a flight school in Florida. My mom and I work across the street from each other so I like to make us bentos for lunch. She grew up in Hawaii and familiar with good Japanese cuisine instead of the americanized fare we have around here and made sure I appreciate traditional cooking. Now that I'm older, it's my turn to cook. I have several food allergies so I would love a non-vegetarian, but seafood and dairy free dish.

I am a 22 year old Scottish graduate in...Japanese! I love love love the Japanese culture, and Japanese cooking is a large part of that. I love your site for new, quirky recipe ideas, and they make great lunches for my work at the psych hospital. They also intrigue and excite my workmates, which is always a plus! :)

Hey Maki! I'm in Leicester, in the East Midlands of the UK. I'm female (when I last looked), an independent researcher (euphemism for unemployed academic), and in my *cough* mid-thirties. When I make bentos - which is not often enough - they're for myself.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi!
I live in the south of Italy and I am 25 y.o. ^^
I'm a student and part-time worker. :)
I discovered the bento "world" with anime and I started making them when I entered the university. Bento is not popular yet in Italy, so it's unsual to make it for other people... I make it for myself. :)
Since I'm always in a hurry both in the evening and in the morning, I'd like to see other recipes about how to use leftovers. ^^

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi I'm a 30sthg mom from Australia and I make bentos for my kids and partner. =)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Hi-ya!
I am currently a stay@home mom (age 30-something *^.~*) and student. We live in Seattle, and I've enjoyed making bentos for myself and my husband for almost 2 years... and will enjoy making them for the little dude soon. I love JustBento and JustHungry for all the great recipes and suggestions... and I love bento (period) for how economical it is. It might be a fun challenge to see how creative people are doing a penny-pinching bento!

All the best,
Audrey

Me! Me!

I am a 24 year old from Salt Lake City, Utah (I've been following your blogs since my college days! ^^). I make bentos for myself and my husband as part of our plan to eat healthier and save moola. It's been great and in the past two years I've been making my own bentos (I followed sheepishly for a good year at least before diving in), we have succeeded at both. We've even helped spread the bento craze in our workplaces and among friends and family! We are expecting our first little one in the next couple of weeks, and someday in the near future I suspect I'll be making bentos for her too. I've been trying to get my husband to order this book for me since the first edition was on pre-order! I would love to continue to see more of Guy's posts. My husband is also Swiss, and Guy's post give me great insight into preparing the occasional "manlier" bento for us!

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

I'm a 31 yo mom from southern Cali. I like to small lunch boxes for myself and my husband. I would like to make more interesting bentos our us and eventually for my little one when he starts school.

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

Nice! I'm a 49 year old woman who just started making Bento lunches for myself this past year and love the fun and creativity of making Bentos. I'm looking forward to learning more about Bentos.

I'm in England, UK :)

I'm female, just (a few days ago) turned 29, I don't work because of illness, and I plan to make bentos for myself as a way to eat with the correct portions and help me to lose weight :)

Re: The Just Bento Cookbook: New edition giveaway!

こんにちわ!/Hi I'm a 21 year old student athlete living in La Mirada, California. I am currently trying to minor in Japanese. Been studying for almost two and a half years, but I am still struggling to get the hang of it. Haha. I like Japanese food and culture and would like to visit someday. Bentos, I think are very fun to make and to eat (not to mention they are so kawaii!)
